Stepping Stones was founded in 1999 as a family group home for young parents and their children as an avenue to strengthen and maintain the family unit.  The initial 1,080 square foot apartment for mothers and their children at risk of removal has grown into the 40-bed program existing today.  Stepping Stones has grown as a program to be recognized at the state and national level.  Stepping Stones currently operates as a State of Maine licensed children’s residential treatment facility that focuses on reunifying and solidifying unstable family relationships for at risk youth who may or may not be in the custody of their parents.
